The State of Envoytown

Denver- Examiner.com is presented a challenge for reporters who write for their local markets. This gets me thinking about my first year of writing for this organization.  I write about how national and world events effect what happens to the evangelical community of Christ-followers in the Denver area. My readership has been and is made up of a large and diverse group of people who look for either confirmation of their views, a different perspective, a place to vent, or some who want a place to argue. My mission is to write articles that do not confront but instead clarify the mission of evangelism in Denver and beyond. I write for a “world-wide web audience” while trying to figure out how that outreach effects readers in my town.

Denver is an Envoytown

Primarilly from an evangelical perspective I have created a town that is both virtual and is a community in itself. Maybe I should work on being the Envoytown Evangelical Examiner. Envoytown is an idea that brings the evangelical community to one place in order to get its media fix from a Biblical mindset. Right now I am going through a revamping of envoytown.com to better serve our citizens. It is a place where evangelical creatives can come and read, listen, watch and create and talk about God’s creative process. People agree on a certain set of rules and respect one anothers values but hold one another accountable through that process. As a result every major media city in the world visits Envoytown everyday. From New York to Los Angeles and Denver inbetween the citizens of Envoytown are of all generations, walks, races and denominations. They are often English speaking and range from pastors to artists, from architects to studios.

Denver Evangelical Examiner

My main audience is from Denver but they want to reach the world with the Gospel of Jesus Christ. The worldview, and the motive, approach and prayer is their map. The issues effect what and how we communicate. The goal for 2010 is to be a voice that sings Jesus’ song-while writing locally and thinking globally. From Denver and Envoytown.com-this is Richard Beattie, the Denver Evangelical Examiner.
