Calling it what it is-Evangelicals speak up
On todays Focus on the Family daily broadcast with Dr. James Dobson it was refreshing to hear an honest out cry of what is going on in Washington. While the pendulum has swung further left than ever before it is during this time that evangelicals need to speak up and find some leadership.
Promises-Promises
President Obama has promised radical legislation on Health Care, the economy, gay marriage, and the Hate Crimes Bill that go beyond common sense but instead raise our debt even further, and will force good physicians, economists, and law enforcement professionals to either compromise their morals or abandon their fields.
Media-Media
Up until now Focus on the Family has been quiet while the President and the leftist power in DC has laid down the cornerstone which will need to be replaced if we are not to swept into the ocean. While this President is articulate and undoubtedly smart, he is corrupt in what many Democrats are in fault of they believe in a separation of their personal character and values with outrageous legislation! While the media hangs on every word, they edit, out of context, partial quotes from conservative evangelicals. Dr. Dobson is utilizing his own powerful outreach to his base to combat the assault on the family.
Both sides now
While the Republican leadership is fading both in principle and power both sides in Washington are playing a dangerous game. We have a “honeymoon” with the administration at a time when they need accountability and direction. On the left aisle we have giddy liberal senators and congress-folk ecstatic for the chance to be “progressive.” Then on the right side you have apologetic leaders who don’t know who where leadership will come from. And so instead of going on the offense in the battle we have conservative leadership AWOL without any morals or principles themselves nor character to fight this battle.
In the fray
This is the time for Evangelical Christians to get off the sidelines and speak truth in the culture. In Denver it is time that conservatives raise good moral leadership to run for the seats that are being held by the left. It is a good thing that Dr. Dobson, Tom Minnery, and Tony Perkins are still strong voices on issues that affect families and the direction our country is going. It will also take people who are called to new media who are willing to write articles on websites, broad-stream and pod-cast, and publish e-print and audio books and to make them available through web stores and resource centers. The media as it is cannot last with an agenda to silence decency and common sense.
