Huck Town instead of Hickenlooper’s State
Denver: While chaos strikes Haiti the community of believers is the one who helps first-but what about in our own backyard? “One thousand people live in Huck-Town,” writes the former governor of Arkansas, Mike Huckabee. Huckabee goes on to say that his “dream town” doesn’t need a large police force, judges, or courts, his community is more and less than a municipality-it is a community where there is no need for divorce, addictions, or government bailouts. Property values are high and legal and program costs are really low. When it takes a village the costs are high, and its just a band-aid when it takes a group of dedicated people who attend church and are active in the community, committed to their marriages and family-you have more than a village, you have a common union known as community. We eliminate the need for “privacy statements” and we have an agreement for accountability. During a crisis- who needs privacy statements? We need to know who to turn to?
Health care debate
Wouldn’t it be great if our health care provider could say- ‘We hold you accountable that you will obey the rules of coverage and as a result your health care premium will remain low.” Sure sickness happens and illness is part of life-and death. We all have stories of the healthy man, woman or child who didn’t smoke, drink, was faithful to his or her spouse and who through no fault of anyone had a diagnosis that was grim. That’s who health insurance is for. This isn’t a knock on programs- this is a reality check on where the proposed health care system will take us and it is in context of Hucktown. Denver could be a Hucktown- but it isn’t. The current Governor and Mayor have made it Hicktown and not the community it could be, and I say this from a community perspective not from politics. My liberal friends and my conservative friends alike are all troubled by the Marijuana Dispensary units that are popping up around our town. We are more a Hick-town on weed than a Hucktown that is a community. Evangelicals need to stand up to this assault on our values and I pray that our uncommon integrity will bring a level of common decency in our communities. It will have to start with an integrated media who speaks truth of when Life begins, subscribes and practices marriage between one man and one woman- who throws out the garbage of move on America in the classroom and all other agendas that are based on idolatry.
Envoytown
Uncommon coverage of stories from Envoytown.com posted right here on the Denver Examiner is where I would like to start. You want the straight scoop? Start here- where church in the city speaks for truth in the city. You want pure journalism that speaks to motive, approach and prayer, holds officials accountable and speaks to the sensibilities of Biblical Values? That’s what we want our town to encompass. How about Prayer in the square? Yup you heard it here first- our connection in our community starts here. Songs that Glorify instead of tear down, decent websites that are interactive, studios that appeal to the best and reach the lowest; broad-pod and stream casts that tell the stories- no one else will. Digital publishing that brings the best authors to not only your shelf but to your heart and mind. These articles- that cover Denver truthfully and ask “why not?” We cover good and we investigate evil and deceitful practices, and we work with helping writers, artists, songwriters, filmmakers, producers- show what God is doing in the lives of his people whose motive is to follow God’s design, who approach their art through following the steps of Jesus Christ, and whose steps are motivated and strong through prayer.

I love Huckabee’s Huck-Town imagery- and I wonder who would object to such a scenario. In these economic times when we live in communities that can pass pot legislation as a sham under the guise of “medical” marijuana. how do you feel -parents? Your kid walks home from school and passes the Massage Parlor, Planned Parenthood, and “Grasshopper, your friendly pot store?” It happens in Hick-Town- but I’d rather live in Huck-Town.
